As election years go, 2020 was gearing up to be a wild one.

There were all kinds of new ways to vote and new rules around voting.

NBC wanted to help. They built an online tool where anyone could plug in their zip code and see their options for voting early and in-person. 

It was my job to name the tool.

I wanted to keep it extremely simple. And I wanted people to know–whether they used the tool or not–that they couldn’t just cast their vote, they had to plan it. 

“Plan your vote.” not only became the name of the tool, but the company liked it so much that it became a regular, branded segment on NBC news, CNBC, and Telemundo.

To launch the tool, I wrote several modular scripts that newscasters could record from lockdown. Again, they were so popular that they opened up the spots to everyone in the NBC/Universal universe.
